Kiri Megan is an English artist who creates her works on different media. Kiri has studied art history at York University in England and has a degree in Victoria & Albert Museum in London. Using female nudity as her main subject, Kiri aims to challenge the notion of "Male gaze" attributed to the traditional spectator. Mainly working with acrylics and gold leaf, Kiri overturns the expectations of female nudes traditional, creating paintings that are powerful and daring thanks to a multitude of different colors. Kiri's painting is inspired by her daily life as a woman but also by rising social-cultural events such as #Balancetonporc or the recent law against sexist outrage in France; events that highlight the perpetual ill-treatment of women and their bodies. With this contemporary reality that infiltrates his works, Kiri elevates nudity feminine to regain full power. Playing with the aesthetic elements of classical art, Kiri uses gold leaf - traditionally associated with deity and ornaments - to reflect the "look masculine "qualified as sexual objectification.
